Custom office design: How to make your brand the star of your fitout

It’s good business to showcase your brand on your website, marketing, vehicles and proposals, but are you making the most of your office space? Custom office design gives you the perfect opportunity to promote your business and live and breathe your brand.

Far more than just a place to get work done, your office is a physical expression of your brand. Custom office design Sydney helps connect with prospects and inspires staff.

The first step is to be yourself. For example a design business might opt for a relaxed vibe, a consultancy might go for a serious style, and a health clinic will want a calm feel and clean lines.

There are many benefits of incorporating branding into your custom office design:

  • Helps create a unified team culture
  • Attracts the right kind of employees that connect with your culture
  • A powerful visual reminder to drive awareness of your business and make it more memorable
  • Stand out from competitors with a unique and bold look

Much more than slapping your logo up in the foyer, every part of your office fitout should align with your brand values, philosophy, personality and mission from layout and furniture to colours and finishes.

4 ideas to inject branding into your office design

1. Use brand colours in your mood board

You don’t want to go overboard, but using your brand colour palette to inform your design decisions can tie your branding together beautifully. Consider the colours and textures of feature walls, carpets, fittings, fixtures and furniture, and how they can complement your brand colours. Even decorative pieces such as a vase, rug, artwork or samples of your work can create a strong statement and conversation starter.

2. Design layouts that reflect your culture and purpose

It’s important to look at ‘how’ you work and what makes you work and what’s enjoyable for your team and clients. Do you need open brainstorming areas, collaboration spaces, soundproof quiet rooms for confidential meetings, event spaces for Friday functions, or more traditional offices for focused deep work?

If you get a lot of visitors, then creating a welcoming reception area that matches the personality of your business becomes very important.

3. Make your mark with signage

Many businesses make a big impact with signage on the outside of their business, but it can be very effective inside your office as well. From decals or murals on the walls to logos on the carpet or window stickers, there are many ways to get your message seen beyond a simple logo behind the front desk. You could also incorporate your mission or values throughout the office, or recreate your logo in a living vertical garden or green wall.

4. Select furniture and accessories that are on brand

Too much office furniture is dull, mundane and boring. With a little creativity you can create a unique look within any budget. Leather lounges, quirky stools, timber meeting tables, industrial finishes or bright colours can all push your brand beyond the average.

If sustainability is a core value, consider second-hand or recycled materials. If health and wellbeing is important, build in stand up desks, ergonomic chairs or games.

Atlas makes a name for themselves

Atlas’ values are reflected by serving clients with the highest standards of quality, expertise and absolute integrity so they needed a premium fitout.

From interior design to furniture selection and integrated logo designs on glass panelling, we worked with them to deliver a fitout that matched business needs and brand. The results speak for themselves.

“The Vestra team was reliable and responsive. The standard of work was high and their ability to adjust to our design changes on the go was exceptional.”

The Uniting Church share their story

Through collaboration we identified that the Uniting Church wanted to create a warm and welcoming, but not extravagant, reception and lounge area for guests. They also needed boardroom facilities and office space with a separate staff entry.

Using murals and custom artwork, we were able to incorporate their values such as ‘compassion’ and ‘making a difference’. Working within a budget, we made innovative use of existing workstations and furniture items and came up with a fitout that reflected their brand.

“Vestra patiently listened to our evolving needs and provided a design and fitout that surpassed all expectations of the management team.”
